Do your students think? Like actually think? Or are they learning math by memorization and repetitive calculations? Instructional norms and habits can cause students to become non-thinkers. A thinking classroom goes against the grain and breaks structural norms for learning. A thinking classroom teaches so much more than math, and it teaches problem solving, communication, community, and so much more.
