My first reactions to Canvas mirrored the Star Trek meme of "Khaaaaan!!!" (Most) students do not simply walk into class and successfully complete performance based assessments without having done the practices to learn and prepare. I had students tuning out of lessons/classes and trying to jump directly into assignments and assessments. Now? I create 24/7/365 accessible lessons and activities for students for any time, any where learning. I redesigned my modules so students may advance only when they show minimal mastery. Modules open at the students' needed pace. I happily share the good, bad, ugly and wonderful aspects of my pilot trial.
